It is the best audience participation show seen in years, plain and simple. Dixie’s Tupperware Party, the Long Center for the Performing Arts’ new show, will propel America’s very own #1 salesperson of Tupperware, Dixie Longate, onto the stage until June 30 at the Long’s Rollins Studio Theatre.
We have all encountered a person like this somewhere along the way. Dixie Longate, the fast-talking Tupperware Lady from a Mobile, Alabama trailer park, is a born natural at selling Tupperware. She relates to the audience in an endearing way not often seen in theatrical comedy.
It turns out that Longate began her Tupperware career in 2001, becoming one of the nation’s top sellers within a year, becoming a phenomenon of sorts. When her Tupperware Party caught the eye of New York Theatre producers in 2007, Dixie captured Off-Broadway by storm as the star of her very own show, “Dixie’s Tupperware Party.” The show won her a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance and has been on national tour ever since to the delight of audiences everywhere.
So, what are you waiting for? Enjoy Dixie at the Rollins Studio Theatre as she throws her good ol’ fashioned Tupperware Parties filled with outrageously funny tales, heartfelt accounts, giveaways, and audience participation. Accompanying is the most story-laden assortment of Tupperware ever sold on a theater stage in the world. Packed with the most up-to-date products available for purchase, Ms. Longate tours the nation in an effort to educate her guests on the many alternative uses she has discovered for her plastic products, which really have as much merit as her performance.
