RENT comes to Austin

The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour is happening from opening night on October 13 through October 15, 2017 with Lexus of Austin Broadway Across America at the UT Performing Arts Center/Bass Concert Hall

In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony...

When we were invited to an advance Fox Searchlight Pictures studio sneak peek screening of the new fall film, Battle of the Sexes, starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell. Wow, what a time machine trip back to the hippie dippie 70’s that seems more like a time warp than a dewy-eyed look at the past.

In the wake of the sexual revolution and the rise of the women’s movement, the 1973 tennis match between women’s World #1 Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-men’s-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) was billed as the Battle of the Sexes....

Let’s face it, literally...we’re all challenged by the elements that can reach our face that aren’t positive. That’s why there’s a revolutionary approach to skin defense: the Chantecaille Anti-Pollution skincare collection.

It reigns in the power of stem cells and skin barrier-strengthening extracts to shield the skin from chemical and radiation-absorbing pollutants, soot, smog
and heavy metals that can be found in the air. The pollutants accelerate aging, damage the skin and cause allergic reactions and inflammation. According to the Chantecaille skincare experts, when used...

Problem skin is something we all face, literally. Day and night, each year through and through. Harsh sun, pollution and cold weather can take its toll on a complexion. Then, there’s the aging factor. Of course, we know beauty starts from within and transpires outwardly. Named one of the top five films of the year by The Guardian, we were a tad skeptical upon screening the new film, Jackie, from Fox Searchlight Pictures. It might be the best grown-up movie this summer – and it debuts this weekend, June 6. The new, witty romantic drama, “Words and Pictures” stars the beguiling duo of Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen working together on-screen for the first time.

A one-time literary star, Marcus has not published in years filling his spare time with drink versus the art of language. He meets his match in Dina Delsanto (Binoche). She...

Lucas’ Halloween Party 2012

Halloween is one of my four-year-old son’s favorite holidays (naturally). He loves dressing up and he loves candy. Who doesn’t? He has had a Halloween party every other year and the request for this year’s party started as soon as all the Halloween candy and decorations hit the stores. Since Lucas has a new class at school he asked to host a party for this new class so they can all spend time together outside of the classroom. We opted on a Saturday from two to five (no longer nap time). It is great for me because I do not have to worry about proper foods...

We have loved media sponsoring the Andy Roddick Foundation gala for many years in the past. We recall Roddick telling us that it was a conversation on a plane with then champion Andre Agassi who originally inspired him to create a foundation to give back. Recently, GREY GOOSE vodka served as the official spirit for the 7th annual Andy Roddick Foundation gala in Austin at the W Hotel. Who else but nine-time Grammy® Award winning musician and philanthropist John Legend performed for the invited guests following a seated dinner on the floor of the adjacent ACL Live Moody Theater. The fact of the matter is when fine craftsmanship is created, people notice. That is seen in Bottega Veneta’s reputation for masterful craftsmanship and innovative design is deeply rooted in the heritage of the Veneto region of Italy, where artisanal technique and a reverence for beauty are passed down from generation to generation. At the heart of the brand’s approach to luxury lies an unusual and inspired collaboration between artisan and designer, a symbiosis perfectly illustrated by Bottega Veneta’s signature intrecciato woven leather. We love that.

(above, Elizabeth Taylor in a Harry Winston creation) Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes sang it best when she crooned about yearning for the jewelry-making talents of the famed Harry Winston store in New York.

In his lifetime the man Harry Winston was called “the King of Diamonds,” “the genius of gemstones,” and “the jeweler to the stars.” For eight decades, the name “Harry Winston” has literally been synonymous with pure glitz, glamour, dazzling diamonds, the rarest gemstones, and most innovative timepieces. But how has the legend perpetuated? The book, Harry Winston,...

A bad movie becomes a hit musical. Sound intrigued? So were we when Xanadu landed on Broadway awhile back. The original film, as you might recall, was an over-the-top, roller-skating musical from the high-camp 1980’s and starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. It’s not the usual boy-meets-girl-on roller skates theme, though. Here, a beautiful muse descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach and inspires a struggling artist to create his biggest dream of creating the first roller disco called Xanadu.
